Have you damaged a fiber cable or fiber duct?
Fiber excavation damage can cause the internet connection to stop immediately. In some cases, the damage may be hidden. The fiber cable may still work, while the duct around the cable is crushed, bent or partly damaged.
Fibertel AS has the experience, equipment and practical field competence to assess and handle damage to fiber cables and fiber ducts. We can assist with troubleshooting, locating the damage point, fiber duct repair, fiber splicing, fiber blowing, testing and documentation when the assignment can be carried out by agreement.
We assist private customers, housing associations, property owners, small businesses and contractors in Sandefjord, Vestfold, Telemark and Buskerud.
Send us the address, a short explanation and photos of the damage. We will assess the case and clarify the possible next step.

What we can help with
In case of fiber excavation damage, it is important to find out what is actually damaged. Sometimes the fiber cable is cut. Other times the internet still works, but the fiber duct is crushed, bent or blocked.
Fibertel can assist with practical troubleshooting and assessment of the damage point. The goal is to find the correct solution before the damage develops into a bigger problem.
We can assist with:
• Assessment of damaged fiber cable
• Inspection of damaged or crushed fiber duct
• Locating possible damage points
• Repair and joining of fiber ducts
• Fiber splicing in case of fiber cable break
• Fiber blowing when needed
• Testing and connection verification
• Photos and documentation after completed work

What should you do if you have damaged fiber?
If you have damaged a fiber cable, damaged a fiber duct or suspect damage after gardening, excavation work or renovation, the area should not be covered before the damage has been assessed.
Stop work around the damage point if possible. Do not pull the cable or duct. Take photos of the trench, cable, fiber duct, cabinet, entry point and the surrounding area before anything is moved or covered.
Also note where the damage is located, what happened before the damage was discovered, and whether the internet is completely down, unstable or still working. This makes it easier to assess the correct action.
Damaged fiber ducts can cause problems later
If the internet still works, it can be easy to assume that everything is fine. That is not always correct.
A fiber duct does not only protect the cable. It should also make it possible to blow in, pull out or replace fiber later.
If the duct is crushed, bent or partly damaged, it can become difficult or impossible to use the route again. The problem is often discovered later, for example when new fiber needs to be blown or a cable needs to be replaced.
That is why possible damage to a fiber duct should be assessed before the trench is closed.

How can Fibertel help?
Fibertel can assess the damage and suggest the correct action based on where the damage is located, what is affected, and whether the fiber still works.
When needed, we can assist with troubleshooting, fiber duct repair, fiber splicing, fiber blowing, testing and documentation. We can also help clarify whether the case should be handled by the customer, contractor, housing association, property owner, internet provider or network owner.
Work is carried out by agreement. Price, access, responsibility and further actions are clarified before work starts.
